Crystal Waters :: Makin' Happy for the Holiday

Since her introduction on the 90's club scene pop icon Crystal Waters has pushed the innovation of the dance/house sound. Her debut single "Gypsy Woman (She's Homeless)" still reigns as one of the dance floor's most popularly enduring hits. It's been remixed more times and kept the most current by many of today's top DJ/remixers -�the Chus & Ceballos 2010 Remix is still a wildly resonating bass-thumper -�and although it will always stand as Waters signature song, the artist has been busy keeping the kids jumping.

After having just headlined in Miami's annual White Party affair, -�"Y'know, I actually stayed an extra day. We had fun!" -�she admitted, Crystal Waters will be making a stop in New York City. Hitting Hell's Kitchen hotspot Industry Bar on Wednesday, Nov. 28 to perform some of our favorite songs, and also help inspire some donations for this season's "Holiday Toy Drive."

Her adoring fans at Industry can expect Waters to sing some of her greatest hits from her 20+ years recording music. "They have at least requested two special hits," the artist says, "but I might throw a couple more in there, just for good measure." Everyone, of course, will be waiting to hear the much loved and familiar intro to "Gypsy Woman" which she revealed was one of the earlier tracks that Waters was actually crafting with the Basement Boys for another dance diva: Ultra Nat�.

"They gave me the track to write to," Waters revealed. The 90's hit-making producers the Basement Boys set her the task of putting lyrics to their music -�"but they let me be myself. That's really how it came to me." Waters was always prolifically gifted as a lyricist. Before dance music adopted her as one of its biggest acts, she envisioned a much more soulful, R&B drive to her career. "When everybody would stop dancing for a second," she said about the popularity of the hit single, "they would realize, I was really talking about something -�something important."

Makin’ Happy for the Holiday

Crystal Waters would set the trend for the signature house sound that dominated the 90's big rooms all across the country. She scored another hit with her follow-up to "Gypsy Woman," a track that would have also been offered to Ultra Nat� -�"Makin' Happy" and teamed up with Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis for "Say...If You Feel Alright." And who could forget the pulsing bass-line of "100% Pure Love"?

With the music industry shifting its distribution into a much more prominent digital realm, Crystal Waters has been enjoying the success of releasing hit dance tracks much more frequently then having to focus on a full-length album project. "I've been aligning myself with the best producers," she says. Waters has shared billing with Alex Gaudino, Speakerbox and StoneBridge, to name a few. "It's been making my work a lot easier. You can put out a single every month."

Her 2011 track "Masquerade" indoctrinated Waters into the new popular trend of the EDM circuit. Its synth-beats play to the masses all across the international music festivals. And her collaboration with Yolanda Be Cool "Le Bump" has all the groovy coolness we've come to expect from her unique, brassy-jazz roots. One of her most recent featured appearances was on the StoneBridge single "Standing In Your Way."

But the tracks that have been gaining extreme momentum recently are "Long Day" with Inaya Day Allstars, and Waters' collaboration with hip-hop sensation Pitbull's production team Nicola Fasano & Steve Forest for "Love I Call My Own." Both these singles are climbing up the Billboard Dance Charts. "Love I Call My Own" is on its way to solidifying its pole position as a "Breakout" on the Club Chart.

Besides all of her music Crystal Waters is also widely appreciated for her philanthropic contributions, especially in her efforts to support the LGBT community and raise awareness of the changing tide of HIV/AIDS research. "You have to always give back," she says. "The gay community has been my biggest fan base since day one -�and I'm thankful." And she will continue those efforts on Wednesday night for Industry Bar's "Holiday Toy Drive."
