There’s little doubt that someone in Rick Santorum’s campaign - even the candidate himself - is wincing today with the news that a a New York bar has created a drink in his honor. Sort of.

The drink is called the "Santorum" and takes its cues from the definition of his name developed by gay writer Dan Savage in response to Santorum’s anti-gay stances.

According to UrbanDictionary.com, "Santorum" is defined the "sometimes frothy, usually slimy, amalgam of lubricant, stray fecal matter, and ejaculate that leaks out of the receiving partner’s anus after a session of anal intercourse. Named, by popular demand and usage, after legislator Rick Santorum because of his homophobic political statements."

According to the Brooklyn Paper, the bar Pacific Standard has channeled both meanings into their drink, made of a milky mixture of Baileys, orange vodka, bitters and chocolate flakes.

"People really like it even though it’s named after something gross - both the person and the Dan Savage meaning," said John Rauschenberg, co-owner of bar Pacific Standard, where the drink is becoming a fixture. "It’ll be an election fixture at least until primary season is over."

In the past the bar has featured such suggestive drinks as the Corn Holed Fashioned or Mike Gallego’s Cup.

Santorum is the creation of Rauschenberg’s partner Jon Stan, who said "We’ll keep it around until he’s irrelevant. I hope he’s there the whole way."

The Brooklyn Reader story noted that the "website promoting this prurient term spiraled to the top of Google’s search results, and it so rankled the social conservative and sweater-vest connoisseur that he demanded Google remove it from the company’s search engine index.

"The filthy moniker was positioned at No. 1 until last month, when the Internet behemoth tweaked its algorithm and inadvertently dropped the not-safe-for-work hatchet job down the page."

The Reader attempted to contact Santorum’s campaign for a comment, but they did not respond.

"Still," the Reader concluded, "Stan and Rauschenberg - who helped raise money for President Obama last election and even poured a now defunct Obama ale - hope news of the drink reaches Santorum’s inner circle.

"I hope this drink makes Santorum want to throw up," said Rauschenberg, referring to the contender’s comment that the idea of separating the church and state makes him want to hurl. "Everything makes that guy want to throw up."
