’What’s the T?’ Celebrates Hulu Debut

San Francisco-based filmmaker Cecilio Asuncion marked the June 24 Hulu debut of his award-winning trans documentary "What’s the T?" with a six-car caravan of cast and crew in the SF Pride parade.

What "Paris is Burning" was to drag balls "What’s The T?" is to transgender life - a documentary that explores the challenges, successes and lives of five transgender women; a multi-character study and an introduction to the uninitiated. Four of the five ladies in "What’s the T?" live in San Francisco.

"What’s the T?" officially premiered June 24 on Hulu, the on-demand streaming video service. One of the film’s stars, San Francisco resident Vi Le, will appear in the forthcoming Tyra Banks docu-series, "TransAmerica."

The appearance of the film’s cast and crew in the SF Pride parade was sponsored by LGBT television talk show "Swirl" (KOFY-TV) and hosted Michelle Meow, who led the "What’s the T?" posse as they rode through the streets of San Francisco.
