"The Best Offer" is an Italian mystery with a dash of romantic flair. Superstitious art appraiser with no luck with the ladies, Virgil Oldman (Geoffrey Rush), is hired to evaluate the art collection of an agoraphobic heiress, Claire Ibbetson (Sylvia Hoeks). She hides from Oldman whenever he visits her home to view her collection. His initial desire for friendship becomes a sexual obsession.

The film is written and directed by Giuseppe Tornatore ("Cinema Paradiso"). The bewitching music score is composed by Ennio Morricone. It stars Geoffrey Rush, Jim Sturgess, Sylvia Hoeks and Donald Sutherland. While performances of Rush, Hoeks and Sutherland are reliably superb, the real star of this film is the lush, detail-focused cinematography by Fabio Zamarion. This film is to cultured eyes what a 5 star catered affair is to the trained palate. Its savory decadence is delicious.

Despite being an Italian film, the movie is in English. English and Spanish subtitles are available. Special features include the movie trailer and Sundance movie previews.
