The artist has a pained and tortured soul -- it’s been done to death, and still it’s remarkable to recognize how some vocalists are able to get right to the heart of the matter. Swedish pop act Erik Hassle isn’t treading new ground with his latest release "Somebody’s Party," but it’s very clear that he’s paving his own road and the party is just getting started.

Mixing elements of pop, electro-synth, and R&B, with some "near-prolific" songwriting, Hassle has created a set of tracks that powerfully speak to heartache, loss and regret. Masterfully incorporating organic instrumentation with electronica can sometimes appear pretentious, but in Hassle’s case, as experienced through his vocals, his music is beyond interesting, emotionally wrought and engaging. "Somebody’s Party" is a particularly contemporary narrative on loves lost and never ventured.

Of the six tracks appearing on the EP, there is one in particular that leaps right out of the speakers, and although "Innocence Lost" may feel somewhat derivative of today’s radio pop play list, the song features a perfectly crafted arrangement. When Hassle’s own gruff and melancholy vocals are laced alongside guest artist Tinashe, the two perform a synchronous ballet that rips you apart. You want to love that hard!

If the song "What Is He Like" was approached by any other male artist today, the song would be lost to the fate of a B-Side. With its 80’s electronic keyboards playing so prominently and Hassle’s vocals taking it to new heights, the track envelopes the listener in its rapture. If you haven’t gotten your invite yet, now is the time to make sure you’re on the list: Erik Hassle’s "Somebody’s Party" is a must-experience event. You don’t want to be left out of the party that everyone will be talking about.

"Somebody’s Party," by Erik Hassle is available now for digital download for $5.99 and is exclusively licensed to Sony Music Entertainment
