Someone needs to send Ben Shapiro a definition of irony.

While most were applauding the front page news announcing that top rated Comedy Central show host Stephen Colbert would fill the shoes of late night host David Letterman, conservative pundit and editor at large of Breitbart News, Ben Shapiro was busy buying a first class ticket on the "persecution express."

In an opinion piece on his TruthRevolt, titled "Stephen Colbert’s Vile Political Blackface," the right wing enfant terrible skewered the popular two-time Grammy and three-time Emmy Award-winning satirist, comparing him to actors who used to don fake noses to play jews and black greasepaint to portray African Americans. In his rant, Shapiro named Colbert’s act "conservative face."

"He needs no makeup or bulbous appendage to play a conservative" Shapiro laments. "Instead, he acts as though he is a conservative - an idiotic, racist, sexist, bigoted, brutal conservative. He out-Archie Bunkers Archie Bunker. His audience laughs and scoffs at brutal religious "Colbert" who wishes to persecute gays; they chortle at evil sexist "Colbert" who thinks men are victims of sexism."

Shapiro then splits the aces in his paranoia hand and doubles down by playing a false "persecution card." "This is the purpose of Colbert’s routine. His show is about pure hatred for conservatives in the same way that blackface was about pure hatred of blacks. In order to justify their racism, racists had to create a false perception of blacks; in the same way, Colbert and his audience can justify their racism only by creating a false perception of conservatives."

While Shapiro cries foul on supposed persecution of conservatives by Colbert and the like, he denies any persecution by LGBT Americans. In a recently television appearance on Fusion TV’s Jorge Ramos, Shapiro made the following comment.

"I would say there is a vastly minute amount of discrimination against gays in this country. The FBI statistics show there are about the same number of attacks on Jews in this country as there are homosexuals. This is not a country that discriminates against Jews and homosexuals. When we do find somebody who discriminates against homosexuals, they should be called out by every person of good-hearted intent as they are in the United States 2014. This is not 1952."
Watch Shapiro deny homophobia here.
