A gay Republican organization is airing a radio ad attacking Democratic Rep. Jared Polis for supporting possible ballot measures to limit fracking.

The ad from the Log Cabin Republicans contends that ballot measures limiting fracking could cost Colorado tens of thousands of jobs. The spot notes that Polis is independently wealthy. It contends he is financing the ballot challenges to energy exploration in Colorado.

The ad is noteworthy because Polis is openly gay.

The Log Cabin Republicans say they get involved in economic issues and that Polis’ sexual orientation was not the reason for the ad.

More than 10 ballot measures could be on the November ballot. The Log Cabin Republican ad is just part of what is expected to be a wave of outside spending on the issue.

"The ad is noteworthy because Polis is openly gay." Why? "The Log Cabin Republicans say they get involved in economic issues and that Polis’ sexual orientation was not the reason for the ad." That’s the first thing I’ve ever agreed with the LCR about. The reason for the ad is that they’re a bunch of rich, greedy, white guys who don’t care who they hurt on their way to greater wealth.

Um, isn’t Polis a "rich, greedy, white guy?" Fracking is one proven way to help get this country on the way to energy independence. Yet, the radical left would prefer to maintain our dependence on Mideast oil, supporting countries that hang gays from bridges?

Yes, fracking is a great way to get us on our way to energy independence if you don’t mind being able to light your drinking water on fire. The "radical left" as you call us would like to see us reduce our dependence on foreign oil by conservation, increased energy efficiency and development of clean, renewable sources of energy like solar and wind power. Do you think the oil companies are going to go for that, and do you think the rich, greedy white guys who run them care about Mideast countries hanging gays from bridges? Get real!
