Nash Grier, the 16-year-old social media sensation who has 8.7 million followers on the video app Vine, apologized quickly after he came under fire this week for a clip he posted where he used an anti-gay slur and implied only gay men are impacted by HIV.

A clip from April recently surfaced where Grier, who has more followers on Vine than anyone else including celebrities like Justin Bieber and Harry Styles, recorded part of what appears to be a PSA where men say that HIV doesn’t just impact gay men. The video cuts to Grier who yells, "YES IT IS! FAG!"

The Vine has been removed but out YouTube personality Tyler Oakley Tweeted the clip, which has been uploaded to another Vine account, and wrote: "Call me and people like me, ’fag’ all you want, but spreading false information about deadly diseases is the next level."

On July 6, Grier tweeted an apology for the Vine, saying he was "young, ignorant, stupid and in a bad place," adding he "has nothing against anyone or anything that promotes equality."

"I apologize for anything negative I’ve said towards gays and for that matter anyone," he wrote. "I was young, ignorant, stupid and in a bad place. I’ve moved on and learned from my mistakes and I am so truly sorry to anyone I have offended. I have nothing against anyone or anything that promotes equality. Sorry again."

According to New Now Next, Grier has used "gay" and "fag" as insults in his Vines. There are also screen caps of tweets he allegedly made, making fun of LGBT rights and same-sex marriage.
