Seth Rogen's Cannabis Webstore Crashes Due To Massive Demand

Houseplant, Seth Rogen's Canadian based cannabis venture, saw its website crash Thursday due to massive demand from new American shoppers.

The Hollywood actor and marijuana activist/entrepreneur said on Twitter that "we are experiencing a tremendous amount of traffic right now", and later that "due to insane traffic we took the Houseplant site down temporarily."

The site, founded by Rogen, frequent collaborator Evan Goldberg, with producers James Weaver and Alex McAtee is a home delivery service for cannabis products and accessories available in the state of California and Canada.

The Canadian based brand launched in Canada in 2019, and recently expanded to limited American markets just this week.

Speaking to the New York Times earlier this month, Rogen expressed his admiration for the connection often drawn between him and his product.

"I'm honored to be associated with weed," Rogen said in the interview. "Sometimes people expect me to try to wiggle out from under being a very famous stoner, or someone who, in some ways, is more famous for being someone who smokes weed than anything else that they have done. But truthfully, that is a worthy thing to me. I'm as proud of it as anything."

As of yesterday afternoon, Houseplant's site is back up and running, albeit there is a digital waiting room for shoppers in order to better manage the huge traffic facing the site.
