Gay Nightclub Patron Alleges Gang of Bouncers Beat Him

Ronan Gordon claims that he was set upon and beaten by a group of bouncers at Bloom, a gay nightclub in Manchester, England, in an "unprovoked attack" that knocked him out and left him with facial injuries that will require surgery.

Gordon took to Instagram, where he described a brutal ordeal he said came out of the blue in the early hours of Jan. 22.

"Last night while I was in bloom I was targeted by 5 bouncers and beaten in a unprovoked attack," Gordon posted, going on to add, "I have a broken nose a shattered eye socket and have to have surgery..."

Gordon alleged that he "was knocked unconscious on the floor," and claims that although the bouncers were "told to stop" the beating, they "carried on."

Gordon provided more detail around his allegations in comments he made to Out Magazine.

"I remember coming out of the toilet and one bouncer grabbed my friend and they said, 'No, it's not him,'" Gordon told Out.

After that, he said, "they got me and I ask, 'What's the problem?'"

Gordon alleged that the bouncers "manhandled" him, and said that the five bouncers "all hit" and were "pulling me."

"I passed out and fell," Gordon added, "and one bouncer was telling them to stop because I was floppy. I don't remember much."

Out reported that Bloom initially posted its own account of what happened on social media, addressing Gordon by name and accusing him of having started the fracas.

"You were initially asked to leave the venue after having an altercation with another male," the now-deleted post claimed. "You then proceeded to attack a fermale member of door staff," the club's rebuttal continued, before accusing Gordon of having also assaulted a male staffer and giving him "a laceration on his head."

The club further alleged that Gordon "spat blood in all the security teams faces."

Gordon disputed those assertions. "None of what they said is true," he told Out. "I didn't attack any member of their staff. They said two restrained me and I still managed to attack more staff," he added, before noting that his body weight is about 112 pounds.

The original response from Bloom was replaced with another message that assures the public that the club is "deeply shocked" at the incident and is "working directly with police to resolve this."

"The security staff involved are all currently suspended pending investigation," the club's post added, "so that appropriate measures can be taken."

"We do not and won't ever tolerate violence of any kind," the venue's post added.

But comments left on Bloom's post made their own claims about patrons being subjected to needlessly rough treatment at the hands of Bloom's bouncers.

One user commented: "Bloom is the only club in the village where the bouncer always seem to be on a power trip."

Said another: "Every time I go to bloom the bouncers are trouble.... Find some new ones."

"This is not a LGBTQ+ welcoming or safe space," posted yet another commenter. "AVOID."
