Today’s Pop Ups heads to Olympic Games to catch up on some things you may have missed.

Imagine If He Had Won the Gold!

It looks like Henrik Rummel, a rower for the U.S., was excited to receive his bronze medal for placing third in the rowing competition.

When Rummel stepped on the podium with three of his teammates to claim his award some viewers took notice to something else...what was in the athlete’s pants.

Photographs of the team and Rummel’s chubby soon went viral and Reddit, a social news site that is known for generating memes, spread the images like wildfire, the Digital Spy reported.

"One US rower was particularly excited by his Bronze medal..." a Reddit user commented to the photo. The remarks sparked a comment from Rummel who said "This is me and I swear it’s not erect!," under the handle "Rummelator."

"I don’t know why it ended up in that position but there you go," he wrote. The website points out another user wrote, "Dude when you win a medal in the goddamn Olympics your penis can be however you want. You earned it."

When Reddit users asked Rummel to prove that it was really him posting, the athlete uploaded a photo of himself holding up a piece of paper with his username and the date on to the message board.

Olympic athletes go XXX through the magic of Photoshop

Although Rummel’s curious package has raised some eyebrows and sparked some media attention another Olympic themed meme has been taking the web by storm.

KnowYourMeme.com titles calls the Internet sensation "Olympics or Gay Porn?" and describes it as "a photoshop meme in which screen captured images from the London 2012 Olympics are altered to look like they were taken from an adult entertainment film. The images typically include a progress bar or a lower third banner covering the athlete’s mid-section to appear as if the subject is not wearing any clothes."

The website claims the meme first originated on July 30 on Tumblr. The Tumblr user windshieldviper uploaded a set of screen shots of the men’s Olympic diving events with the caption "the score bars are leaving much to the imagination."

"Within three days, the post received over 66,000 notes," the website writes. Notes are similar to "likes" on Facebook.

Many have picked up on the meme and created their own suggestive "Olympics or Porn?" images. BuzzFeed has rounded up several, which you can check out here.

Rafalca at the Olympics. Glue factory next?

Off to the Glue Factory?

Things didn’t go so as hoped this week at the Olympics for Rafalca, the Romney’s tax deduction turned the most famous horse since Mr. Ed.

According to the New York Daily News: "Hate to be a neigh-sayer about Rafalca, but the 15-year-old mare just didn’t get the job done on Tuesday in dressage - which is four-legged ballroom dancing, only with some guy sitting on your back in a top hat. Rafalca was awarded a decent score on her trot and went strong to her left, earning a score of 7.3 out of 10 on that pass. But she had problems with transitions and her extended walk. You know what they say: If you can’t walk the walk, you don’t belong in the dressage arena.

"Rafalca finished 28th out of 32 horses in the event, with an average score of 69.302. To be fair, the Americans weren’t going to win the team competition anyway. Britain, the gold medalist, was far too strong. But Rafalca killed any chances of a podium position by 11 a.m. on Tuesday, so she gets the blame - along with rider Jan Ebeling, plus the would-be first lady."

Romney and Rafalca’s two other owners cheered their horse on from the stands at Greenwich Park equestrian site. The Brits, according to the Daily News report, "quietly rooted against Rafalca, if only because Mitt Romney has insulted them several times over.

"’You mean nit-Romney?’ one venue volunteer said. ’It’s not what he said about the Olympics. It’s what he wrote about us in his book.’

"In ’No Apology,’ Romney wrote, ’England is just a small island. Its roads and houses are small. With few exceptions, it doesn’t make things that people in the rest of the world want to buy. And if it hadn’t been separated from the continent by water, it almost certainly would have been lost to Hitler’s ambitions.’"

According to Bloomberg News, Mrs. Romney commented about her horse’s performance: "Fabulous, it was wonderful, she is elegant and consistent again," she left the grandstand, wearing a red raincoat.

Recently there was minor political firestorm when it was revealed the Romneys deducted $77,000 from their 2010 tax return for Rafalca’s care and feeding. (If the deductions were made in other years, that is yet to be revealed.)

Still those concerned that Rafalca is on the way to the glue factory after not taking home any medals need not worry. She has another year of performing ahead of her, then Mrs. Romney and her fellow owners plan on breeding her.

"Since she’s very sound, we’re probably going to see her for a year or two," rider Jan Ebeling told reporters after his performance today,. "There are thoughts about breeding from her, I think she’d make a great brood mare."

Oh my goodness. An athlete with a boner! Whoopty doo! Is this really more important than our team’s metal? A man with a member and that’s all we can focus on. Makes me ashamed to be an American...more or less a human being in this society
