World War Z
The hit zombie apocalypse film based on the popular novel takes a bite out of home theatres this fall with the release of "World War Z." A well-made zombie picture, director Marc Forster and producer/star Brad Pitt don’t really reinvent the wheel here, but they do make a more event-driven zombie action picture than something geared toward horror fans only. This is a suspenseful action film through and through and succeeds on that level. Where it doesn’t succeed is giving us any depth to the scenario or the characters. Still, it’s a fun ride, and the zombie attacks are ridiculously inventive.
The Blu-ray comes with an extended unrated cut that makes some scenes longer and adds some gore that was missing from the PG-13 theatrical version. That said, it’s nothing earth-shattering so if you don’t see that version, don’t lose sleep over it.
Blu-ray Special Features run about 45 minutes in total and are interesting, but they tend to be repetitive.

The DVD features the theatrical version of the film, and some editions come with the 3D version of the film.
