For fans of British humor, Open All Hours: The Complete Series on DVD is a long-awaited treasure. This immensely popular UK sitcom, from the creator of Keeping Up Appearances and Last of the Summer Wine, is centered around Albert, a quirky shopkeeper (Ronnie Barker) who’s dead-set on making his shoppers’ experiences unique... and separating them from their money.

Between the wacky proprietor, his neighbor and object of his affection, Nurse Gladys Emmanuel (Lynda Baron), and his womanizing nephew (David Johnson) he’s reluctantly playing the father figure to, Open All Hours is a riot, in the way that British comedy does so well- with a bit of squirminess and embarrassment.

This 4-disc set has a total running time of more than 700 minutes, including 25 episodes plus bonus material. It runs about $35 at Amazon.com
