While many people are familiar with the hilarious FunnyOrDie.com videos, the Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Chris Henchy enterprise also has a comedy series on HBO. "Funny or Die Presents: The Complete Second Season," has just arrived on DVD and features the ten half-hour episodes from the 2010-11 season.

While not as timely or celebrity-packed as the online content, the HBO show still features a fair number of funny skits, and plenty of cameos from B-list celebs and SNL alumni. Some segments are more successful than others, but if one doesn’t tickle your funny bone, the next is usually less than a minute away.

In many ways, "Funny or Die" is most reminiscent of the cult comedy film, "Kentucky Friend Movie," with its 1970s graphics and overall vibe. Some of the segments last less than a minute, such as the oddball "Adam West Hits on You Hard" in which the aging Batman star offers a single cheesy pick-up line in a bar. Others, such as the Movie of the Week parodies are usually between five and ten minutes long, telling fleshed out faux dramatic stories.

"Reenactments of Actual Conversations from Ladies Rooms in Hollywood" is exactly that, and features odd discussions on a variety of topics, whereas "Tijuana Jackson: Life Coach" is about a derelict ex-con unqualified to advise anyone about anything. "Welcome to My Study" is an appealingly oddball Mr. Rogers parody.

"United State Police Department" is a take-off on "Law & Order SVU" and features detectives investigating crimes which include stealing people’s anuses, and a young boy accused of drawing dirty pictures at school.

Production values and performances are low budget, but fine. Unfortunately the DVD doesn’t include any extras or bonus features.
