Sexercise LIVE! is a homage to Jackson and her groundbreaking style of entertainment. Performed in cabaret fashion, the show is brought to life through the powerful voice of Everett and the musical stylings of Mellman. It comes to Los Angeles off the heals of a hit run at New York’s legendary Joe’s Pub and is the second successful collaboration between Mellman, Everett and King. (Their critically acclaimed show At Least It’s Pink is slated for an Off-Broadway mounting in 2008).
Two-time Grammy nominated Jackson rose to fame in the 70’s as an R&B star, but what set her apart was her lengthy, sexually explicit and bitchy interludes between songs. It was here where she honed the art of no-holds-barred-banter, waxing on the taboo, offering sassy opinions and giving brash advice to others.
