A University of Texas professor will face a vigorous cross-examination in the trial over Michigan’s gay-marriage ban.

Mark Regnerus is returning to the witness chair Tuesday in Detroit federal court. He testified Monday for the state of Michigan, which is defending a 2004 constitutional amendment that recognizes marriage only as between a man and a woman.

Regnerus is the author of a study that found young adults had problems years later if their mom or dad had a same-sex relationship when they were kids. He stands by the results but acknowledges there’s been some legitimate criticism.

Two Detroit-area nurses are asking a judge to throw out Michigan’s gay-marriage ban, saying it violates the Equal Protection Clause of the U.S. Constitution.

Regnerus? Seriously? Wasn’t his study thoughlly debunked as soon as someone pointed out that his "same sex parents" are extra merital affairs and divorced and the same sex couples had to be still married to be included in the study?
