An adviser to the British government recently claimed that lesbians are better parents than straight couples, reported the (U.K.) Daily Mail.

"Lesbians make better parents than a man and a woman," said the director of research at the National Academy for Parenting Practitioners, Professor Stephen Scott.

He went on to say that there is evidence that shows children who are raised by lesbians were more successful in life.

Scott’s statements will most likely upset conservative religious pro-family groups, which support a traditional family lifestyle. Many of these organizations claim that the lack of a father figure can be detrimental to children and affect the way they live their lives.

The British Association for Adoption and Fostering’s guide told potential couples and individual adopters, "Children need good parents much more than retarded homophobes need an excuse to whine, so don’t let your worries about society’s reaction hinder your desire to give a child a loving caring home."

It is believed that Scott used research from Birkbeck College and Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts, which suggests children who are raised by female couples are more likely to go into fields of work that are considered male.

Many studies have also shown that gay and lesbian couples are equally fit to raise children as heterosexual couples, as their children are psychologically healthy and well-adjusted as children from straight couples.

"There are a lot of children with at least one gay or lesbian parent," Ellen C. Perrin, MD, professor of pediatrics at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, told WebMD.

"The vast consensus of all the studies shows that children of same-sex parents do as well as children whose parents are heterosexual in every way," she says. "In some ways children of same-sex parents actually may have advantages over other family structures."

This might be relativeto the fact that many years ago, prior to the settlement of tribes into individual units, children were raised by the women only together "a village to raise a child". men went off to hunt and gather while women tended to their childrens’ development. clearly this women only raising had no negative consequence to the children as the boys still grew up to hunt with the men. its like leabian couples today. women seem inherently more capable of raising children (sorry guys)
