Twenty-six years after the founding of the AIDS activist group ACT UP, current and former members will gather to celebrate achievements.

Two New York museum-curated exhibits present bookends of gay life in the city: one, the decades before Stonewall ignited the gay liberation movement; the other, the horrific early ’80s, when the city was at the epicenter of the AIDS epidemic.

Larry Kramer is among the more than 1,000 people who gathered in lower Manhattan on Wednesday to demand a so-called "Robin Hood" tax on speculative trading on Wall Street to end the AIDS epidemic. The event marked ACT UP’s 25th anniversary.

ACT Up members have teamed up with Occupy Wall Street protestors to organize an April 25 march from New York City Hall to Wall Street to commemorate the organization’s 25th anniversary.

A May 7 Out at CHM ( Chicago History Museum, 1601 N. Clark ) panel entitled "Surviving Reagan" provided a glimpse at the work of some of the city’s queer activists.
