The International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association’s 31st Annual Global Convention will be held in Madrid in May 2014. This will mark the inaugural appearance of IGLTA’s premier educational and networking event in Spain.

Chueca (pronounced Choo-aye-ka) was named for Federico Chueca, a 19th century heterosexual Spanish composer. By the late 20th century, the area had deteriorated into a dangerous drug-infested slum. But Madrid’s gays turned it around.
