Terry Kemple’s appointment to Hillsborough County’s Board of Human Relations late last year has sparked outrage among local LGBT activists-and even prompted one commissioner to resign.

A bill that would offer an additional tax break to directors and producers who promote "family values" in their movies and programs has sparked widespread criticism and ridicule, but Florida activists continue to look beyond state Rep. Stephen Precourt’s proposal as they seek statewide progress on adoption, domestic partnerships and other LGBT-specific issues.

The Broward County School Board passed a resolution on Tuesday, March 2, that officially recognizes the annual Day of Silence. This move is the second time county officials have acknowledged the April 16 event designed to heighten awareness of anti-LGBT bullying and harassment in schools.
