With help from out-of-state groups, the Rhode Island chapter of the National Organization for Marriage has continued to rally opposition on the state’s same-sex marriage bill now before the state senate.

Members of the Westboro Baptist Church said they love their new neighbor’s rainbow-colored house, which was painted like the pride flag to counteract the anti-gay group’s hateful messages.

The Southern Poverty Law Center, a group that monitors extremists, is poised to add five organizations to its existing list of anti-gay hate groups. The full list includes familiar names such as the Family Research Council, the American Family Association, and anti-gay blog Americans for Truth About Homosexuality.

The SPLC, an organization that monitors hate groups nationwide, has been pegged as a hate group itself by a board member of an anti-gay organization, AFTAH, that was recently added to the SPLC’s list of hate groups.
