There will be no charges brought against a New Jersey police officer who shot and killed an unarmed man in a park last year, allegedly after the man tried to attack the officer during a sex sting.

An investigation into sex sting tactics used during the summer of 2009 in Palm Springs has concluded that "portions of the operation were not conducted according to professional standards," including an epithet used by an officer in the course of the operation.

A controversial sex sting that took place last year in Palm Springs continues to tarnish the city’s gay-friendly reputation and threaten its tourist industry.
