An estimated 3,500 trans activists crowded into San Francisco’s Dolores Park on June 22 for the kickoff to the Ninth Annual Trans March.

After the parade, over a million revelers, three hundred vendors, and twenty community run stages filled the majestic Civic Center Plaza with an orgy of costumes, cocktails, music, dancing, food, and plenty of flesh. EDGE has the photos.

This year’s SF Pride theme was Global Equality and it seemed as if the whole world came to town to watch over 200 floats and contingents march in the nation’s largest gay parade. Check out the pics!

When the Pride parade ends the Civic Center block party begins, taking over most of downtown, spanning several blocks. EDGE joined in the fun celebrating the LGBT community and the city itself.

On June 19, artist Gilbert Baker, who created the rainbow flag in 1978, shared his memories of that period and the flag’s creation in a discussion at the GLBT Historical Society in San Francisco with longtime activist and friend, Cleve Jones.

Glee’s Dot Jones, and performers from Cirque Du Soleil’s Zumanity were among the many celebs on hand to schmooze and take pictures with members of the media at the Clift Hotel’s swank Velvet Room. Edge was there to catch all the excitement.

OccuPride, an San Francisco based group, will protest San Francisco’s Gay Pride Parade to protest the way the LGBT community is treated by politicians and large businesses.

As a true Gay Mecca, San Francisco can sometimes overwhelm visitors with its vast number of activities which appeal to the LGBT community.

The Castro’s dining scene has long been known more for its puns, think Sausage Factory or Orphan Andy’s, than for serving gourmet fare. But that has slowly changed in recent years.

Macy’s Passport Presents Glamorama 2011 comes to LA on Friday, 23 September, 2011 and to San Francisco on Friday, September 30, at 8:00 p.m. at the Orpheum Theatre. This year’s event benefits AIDS Emergency Fund, Glide Foundation and Project Open Hand.
