Joe Redner, the 72-year-old gay man who made Tampa, Fla. known for its strip clubs, said he doesn’t expect to make much profit from the Republican National Convention, which will be held during the week of August 27.

The Tampa City Council voted 7-0 on Thursday to create a domestic partner registry for unmarried partners. Officials in neighboring St. Petersburg will consider a similar proposal that gay City Councilman Steve Kornell introduced the same day.
