WASHINGTON (AP) - Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney says he’s appalled by a shooting at the Washington headquarters of a conservative Christian lobbying group and says he’s praying for the wounded guard and his family.

Romney issued a statement saying "there is no place for such violence in our society." He also said he is praying for employees of the Family Research Council, whose sense of security he said has been shattered by the day’s "horrific events."

Authorities say an armed man walked into the council’s headquarters Wednesday morning and was confronted by a security guard, whom he shot in the arm before the wounded guard and others wrestled him to the ground.

The Family Research Council takes conservative positions on social issues and strongly opposes gay marriage and abortion.

Now watch then claim the entire GLBT community for this act of a lone maniac. The "right" will declare that "the gays are resorting to violence to further their agenda"!! Just more lies and distortions from the "religious"-right

That’s very humane of you to say. Never the less, I pray to the great Wizard of Oz that you will not be our next president.

I quite agree with Mr. Romney that there is no place for such violence as took place at the Family "Research" Council headquarters. However, I am still waiting to hear Romney condemn the violence against LGBT people and homphobica bullying that takes place in schools that is inspired, in part, by the dishonest fear, and anger mongering from groups such as FRC.
