It’s becoming the Jersey Shore’s, if not the entire northeast coast’s, most anticipated beach party of the summer season. Sand Blast Weekend, the wave-riding, sun-soaked, pool party, dance floor extravaganza that is rapidly joining Asbury Park’s calendar of "must attend" music festivals is back...and yes - it’s bigger and better than ever!

The hottest beach bodies will be converging for Sand Blast Weekend when it takes over the most popular seaside community on the fabled New Jersey coast. July 20 - 22 all the boys (and girls) will be staking claims on Asbury Park. Little more than a decade ago the growing township began to experience a glowing renaissance, drawing the attention of the LGBT community who sought to revitalize the area and turn Asbury Park into the newest gay summer retreat.

Sand Blast Weekend, produced by long-standing Asbury Park resident Brad Hurtado has consistently demonstrated the local community’s dedication to not only welcoming the diversity of the changing neighborhood landscape, but also providing one of the year’s most magnificently attended parties of the music festival (or circuit party) summer season. Sand Blast Weekend is three days of parties with the Atlantic Ocean for a backdrop.

Summer’s Master-Beach Blast!

Thousands descend on Asbury Park for dance parties on the legendary Asbury Park Convention Hall, pool parties hosted at the classically renovated Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel, artful walks along the historic downtown main street, and at the center of it all is the main event, Sand Blast Beach Party.

The crowning jewel of the Sand Blast Weekend of festivities will be this year even more special with the addition of super-star, mix-maestro DJ Brett Henrichsen, who is continuing to spread his Masterbeat brand to the northeast headlining the biggest and best beach party of the year.

Sand Blast’s event producer Brad Hurtado courted the West Coast’s most notable DJ to play the entire Beach Party set and make his Asbury Park debut. "When Brad approached me about Sand Blast, I knew I wanted to do the Beach Party, and that I wanted to play the entire set," Henrichsen told us. "I wanted to get back to the old days of one DJ playing an entire party. I really enjoy playing from start to finish because you can really take the party on a musical journey."

Anyone who is familiar with DJ Brett Henrichsen and his infamously popular Masterbeat events, knows that the mix-master takes to his turntables with a serious vengeance. "I’ve been playing a lot internationally and look forward to bringing that sound to Sand Blast - it will be very appropriate for the beach party." No stranger to the outside beach party format, Henrichsen has played Fire Island’s Ascension and Palm Spring’s White Party. "Some of my favorite parties to play are the outside day events."

You Can’t Beat This

This year Henrichsen added Los Angeles Pride to Masterbeat’s busy calendar of music festivals and took over Hollywood’s Universal Studios, and is continuing to grow events around the country, making Sand Blast a luxury stop apart from his usual circuit tour.

"I’ve actually never been to Asbury Park," Henrichsen admits, "but am very excited for my first time. I’m told there will be some hotties there - I will be keeping my eye out!" He’ll also be keeping his ear close to the speakers, as Henrichsen is promising Sand Blast Beach Party revelers a party for the record books. "It will be a great musical journey," and a sun-drenched event you won’t want to miss.

Grab your sun block and prep for your road trip! Asbury Park on the Jersey Shore is calling and this Sand Blast Weekend will prove itself masterfully beat heavy at the skillful hands of DJ Brett Henrichsen! The beach party weekend begins July 20, three hot days and nights of the most exciting fun in the sun on the east coast.
