No festival on the planet celebrates women like Women’s Week in Provincetown. Now in it’s 26th year, Women’s Week begins on the Friday of Columbus Day Weekend and runs until the next weekend. In addition to seeing the best performers and comics in lesbian culture today, women get to experience the rich history and spectacular charm of New England and the breathtaking Cape Cod beaches. Besides, no one does gay like Ptown.

At the heart of it all, The Crown & Anchor is one of Ptown’s leading entertainment venues with some of the nation’s leading drag entertainers and comedians, sensational singers and even world premiere theatrical productions. It features six unique gay bars including Ptown’s largest nightclub (Paramount Nightclub), the only video bar (Wave Video Bar), a cabaret venue, a poolside bar with heated pool, a piano bar and the ever-popular leather bar (The Vault).

The following is a list of the first-rate entertainment the Crown has to offer during this exciting event:


Kate Clinton

Kate Clinton is a faith-based, tax-paying, America-loving political humorist and family entertainer. Join Kate for her world-famous 2013 SIS-BOOM-BAH TOUR! Once again, she’ll be shaking her pompoms, pumping up the crowd, leading the cheers and jeers. Sis for the sisters and others. Boom for the boomers and babes. Bah to anyone who doesn’t have team spirit.

Helen Reddy

Born into a well-known Australian show business family, Helen Reddy has had a life and a career richer and more varied than anything she could have imagined as a girl in Melbourne. Best know as a recording artist, Helen Reddy had more than a dozen Top 40 hits in the United States. She was the first Australian to win a Grammy Award and to have three #1 hits in the same year.

Jessica Kirson

The unique style of Jessica Kirson’s stand up comedy, and her captivating stage presence, captures the attention of audiences and club bookers everywhere she performs. And her wide variety of characters brings a diverse energy to her routine.

Big Bad Gina

Big Bad Gina has hit the music scene with a big bad bang. The three women of BBG combine their unique harmonies, their eclectic musical selections and their multi-instrumentalism to bring down the house with their powerfully-energetic performances. Their debut CD, "Amazon Warrior Princess" has received critical acclaim, and includes all-original songs with something for everyone.

Mimi Gonzalez

Welcome to Mimi’s Latina world view, where "mi caca es su caca!" This Ohio-born, Michigan-raised, Cuban-Italian American is a professional comedian of almost twenty years. There’s nowhere she won’t go to make you laugh!

Vickie Shaw

A seasoned comedian, Vickie Shaw hilariously addresses the triumphs and trials of being a woman, a mother and gay in America. Vickie’s own life provides the best material for her show: as an out, lesbian mother, she has successfully raised two sons, (one of whom is married with a brand new baby daughter, Vickie’s first grandchild), has a teenage daughter still living at home, is married to her ’husbian’, Sgt. Patch, and on top of all that she is a recovering S.O.B. (Southern Baptist).

Karen Williams

Known for her quick repartee, insightful commentary and audience rapport, Williams is a comic craft master, a gifted actor, a multitalented writer, and an inspirational lecturer. Armed with her "heal with humor" philosophy, she gives humor workshops specifically designed to build self-awareness and self-confidence, and to encourage tolerance and respect for the dignity of human life.

Karen Grenier

Whether she’s cutting to the heart with her emotion-driven original songs or belting out cover tunes, Karen’s penetrating voice, rhythmic acoustic style and intense emotional energy combine to capture her audience’s attention. A polished performer as well as an excellent songwriter, Karen received a songwriting award from Nashville’s Music City Search in 2002. In addition, several of her songs have been featured on "Dawson’s Creek."

WOMEN’S WEEK IDOL has become a not-to-be missed event! Kate Clinton kicks off the event with a panel of hilarious celebrity judges: Vickie Shaw, Jessica Kirson, Karen Williams, Suede, Jennie McNulty and Mimi Gonzalez make it a night of mega fun. For your shot at stardom and a cash prize, arrive at 7:30PM if you want to compete. Please note: Standard Karaoke music is available for competing contestants. If you have a special song you’d prefer to sing, please bring the music. Doors open to the public at 8PM.
