The Things that 'Wild Goose Dreams''s Ryan Mardesich Can't Perform Without

Christopher Ehlers READ TIME: 9 MIN.

Marrying whimsy, love, and the perilous politic of North Korea, Hansol Jung's "Wild Goose Dreams" is currently enjoying its New England premiere at SpeakEasy Stage, where it will run through April 8.

Ryan Mardesich is a member of the show's quirky chorus, and Boston audiences will recognize him from his appearances at North Shore Music Theatre, New Repertory Theatre, and SpeakEasy Stage. The Boston Conservatory grad is also a self-proclaimed "menswear enthusiast," making him the ideal choice for EDGE's popular new product series.

Here are the items that Mardesich can't do without:

Comfortable Loafers

Comfortable Loafers

"Shoes are really important to me. I often find myself jumping in and out of show/rehearsal shoes, so my own pair of slip-on loafers are very practical for quick on and off. Also, I find putting on my own favorite shoes after a rehearsal/performance very helpful in dropping the world of the show and returning back to myself. These are my favorite shoes of all time. They're made locally in Massachusetts by Alden Shoe Co. They are definitely expensive, but they will last your entire life. Alden has a lifetime guarantee and will restore and resole their shoes at any time. They're a "buy one, cry once" kind of shoe. $663, The Shoe Mart.

An Unstructured Sport Coat

An Unstructured Sport Coat

"This is a huge help for me in rehearsals. I love having a simple jacket without any padding or canvasing to wear while rehearsing. The main reason for this? Pockets. This is great to keep track of pencils/script pages as we begin rehearsals. As we get further into rehearsals, it's good to help manage props for performance. This one is from J. Crew, but you can find incredible quality, cheaper alternatives at Keezer's in Cambridge. $398, J. Crew.

Phillips OneBlade

"I need to shave my face every day, and this is the best razor I've found. It's great for quick simple trims, whether I need to be clean shaven or have some sort of stubble/facial hair. The shape and size of the blade make it really easy to use, and it doesn't irritate my skin." $37.99, Target.

Neutrogena Oil-Free Pink Grapefruit Cleansing Wipes

Neutrogena Oil-Free Pink Grapefruit Cleansing Wipes

"I love these. I find something about the grapefruit scent very relaxing after a show. When I need to use the plain scented ones, it's just not the same." $8.49, Neutrogena.

Giorgiana's Gummy Bears

Giorgiana's Gummy Bears

"Okay, you can't buy these online, but I promise they're worth it. Every time I do a show at the Calderwood, I need to have a pack of the gummy bears from Georgiana's in the dressing room. I don't know what it is about these that make them so good. I almost don't want to share my secret with everyone." Available at Giorgiana's, 532 Tremont St., Boston.

Wooden Hangers

Wooden Hangers

"I spent years working in menswear. I really care about my clothes and try to take care of them to the best of my ability. I keep a hanger like this in the dressing room so I can neatly hang all my personal clothes in one spot. These hangers from Kirby Allison are designed with different sizes to fit different shoulder widths of jackets, which helps maintain the interior construction and prevent collapsing over time." $32.95, Kirby Allison.

Valet Tray

Valet Tray

"I keep a lot of things at my station in the dressing room. This valet tray is a simple way to keep things looking neat and organized. The leather-style adds some elegance, while still remaining practical. You can use a plastic tub, but life is short. Make things look pretty." $19.99, Amazon.
